Tizzie and Dove are specialist tutors who have over 40 years’ experience of working with students who have a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia. They design their tuition to overcome the typical barriers a dyslexic learner may often experience.

DSA Funded Specialist Study Skills £65/ hr including VAT

One to one DSA funded specialist study skill tuition: these funded sessions support students with learning study skills and promote independence. Study skills cover a variety of aspects including:

Breaking down and understanding assignment briefs

Planning

structuring writing

Reading strategies

Critical writing

Referencing

Grammar and punctuation etc

Specialist tuition non DSA funded £35/ hr

One to one tuition: to support students aged 11+ years in study skills. Study skills include structure of writing, grammar and punctuation, breaking down tasks to enable understanding, organisation and more.

These sessions focus upon supporting students with a specific learning difficulty and therefore the tutoring style will adapt to the student’s needs.

Group workshops (up to 5 students)

Group workshops provide the opportunity for students to share the cost of learning through working together in a practical manner. For example, the workshops can focus upon the process of completing specific assignments. In this case students would bring assignment briefs and learn to break them down and plan as a group. Working and planning as a group is often reassuring and encouraging as many enjoy the support of their peers.

Learning Packages

Packages involve a number of sessions where a skill will be focused upon over 4 sessions.

Understanding assignments: a workshop focusing upon the process of breaking down an assignment brief. Having a clear understanding of an assignment and its learning outcomes is the foundation of a good assignment.

Critical Writing: a workshop focusing upon critical writing skills. These skills are required for many assignments, yet are often lacking in much written work. This package will focus upon this more complex skill.
